Tackling Deforestation

Every morning I see plenty of people scouring the lanes looking for dry leaves, twigs and branches. These people are gathering fuel for cooking, most of which is done using the three stone method. Three large stones strategically positioned to enable a large pot to sit on top, under which the wood is stoked.
These open fires are not only costly in the amount of

wood that is burnt, but they also take away from the environment in the chopping down of trees and in the pollution of the atmosphere. Sadly they are also responsible for burns on little children who get too close or toddle into the ashes.
To combat some of these issues my next little venture is about buying and training the villagers to use these 53% fuel efficient stoves, of which 100 have been bought thanks to some very generous donations.
The plan is that training will be held in the village on 7 May and hopefully 100 stoves will be in use on 8 May - watch this space.
