A unifying ribbon

Knowing that 1 December was World Aids Day, I brought across from England several hundred HIV / AIDs awareness ribbons and I am so glad I did.
It is estimated that more than 10% of the adult population in Malawi is suffering from HIV and almost every family is affected.
Today in the village we held a huge HIV awareness event and those ribbons were in full view. They signified an awareness of the disease and more importantly an understanding of the plight of many families. The event was such fun with lots of singing and dancing as well as a number of plays but on by young people. It finished as almost every other event here does - with a football match
